Whats the Tee?
We're launching our new website with six of our favourite T-shirt designs. Dash loves a seamlessly repeating pattern and Eoin favours a nice graphic, presented front and centre on a t-shirt. So we’ve made two different types of T-shirts because who doesn’t love variety?
Our All-Over Patterns T-shirts are made of cotton-touch premium knit polyester jerseys. The two-way stretch fabric is the perfect canvas to show off these repeating patterns. Available in male and female regular fit they are super comfortable and won't fade after washing. These are premium T-shirts that will last.
This is one of our signature "branches" patterns. We want to bring you to the jungle by taking inspiration by patterning in nature and using that to create unique designs from reaction-diffusion techniques. You may have heard of Turing patterns, well this is very much related to those.
2. THE SIMPSONS CHEWABLE T-SHIRT
Simpsons references are in our DNA. This is from one of our favourite jokes. The design comes from Manic Depressive Mouse and the Bluebird of Unhappiness, the two types of Chewable Prozac 4 Kidz offered to Bart Simpson by Lunchlady Doris when she acted as the school nurse. You have to love a joke that hits differently as an adult.
During the 90s KNEX was one of the best creative construction toys rivaling Lego. Lego is of course the more popular toy but K'NEX has its own, very devoted fans. With TV commercials that had a slightly more grown-up edge and created a sense of awe in what was possible to build (Even today we still long for that Giant Ferris Wheel and Thrilling Rollercoaster). This T-shirt is the first pattern drawing from that nostalgia.
Our Graphic T-shirts are classic crew neck T-shirts in several preselected colours. They are made from preshrunk fabric sourced in America. Our design is then printed front and centre printed on the chest of the t-shirt. Available in a unisex regular fit, with the right amount of stretch, they are comfortable and flattering for all.
4. THE HIGH POINT DECAFFEINATED COFFEE T-SHIRT
In the 80s Lauren Bacall did a series of commercials for High Point Coffee. Years later those ads have attained camp cult status for their extravagance and Bacall’s exaggerated pronunciation of words like “Flavour” (Or, more accurately, "Flay-vuh"). This graphic t-shirt was made with the same deep brewed flavour that gave those commercials their cult classic status. We think you'll really go for it.
Death Becomes Her opens with Madeline Ashton (Meryl Streep) trying her best to play the lead role in a horribly ill-conceived disco-flavoured Broadway musical, "Songbird!". Based on Tennessee Williams’s Southern Gothic tragedy, Sweet Bird of Youth. It is a terrible idea for a musical adaptation but that’s what makes this particular moment of esoteric late 1970s Broadway satire so brilliant.
6. THE FLORENCE PUGH PUGH PUGH T-SHIRT
It’s kinda the hat on a hat on a hat of jokes. The classic Star Wars blaster ‘Pew Pew’ sound reminds us of film actress Florence Pugh’s last name. That pun is at the centre of our take on a geeky graphic t-shirt because you should never take science fiction too seriously.
We're pretty sure these designs give a good impression of what to expect from Jungle Red in the future. Both types of T-shirts utilise different aspects of design. We love colours, films, fun and above all CAMP. We hope you do too. If you’re a chic geek one of our pieces will suit you to a tee.
